St. Valentine's cards made of recycled materials

Do you know Charlie and Lola? I've always liked the stories and pictures by Lauren Child. I'm sure that you will recognize the hearts. We cut the little tear shaped pieces out of used packaging.

An upcycled t-shirt into last-minute napkins for Valentine's day... and so much more

Well, it's not that one would necessary need napkins for Valentine's day but the post title space is not enough to describe all possible applications of an upcycled t-shirt. I wanted to use the heart symbol and therefore made napkins for the whole family. The napkins can turn into bed linen for a doll, a cloth, wrapping fabric and so on. When Mathilda was a little girl (as if she was big now...) she loved to play with cloths - with my glass cleaning cloths to be precise - exercising her imagination in all possible ways. She never gave them back to me.

Why not try it out? Those last-minute napkins & co. are very easy to make.

kids craft recycled wrapping paper

Last year we recycled wrapping paper into kids crafts. This year we will recycle kids Christmas crafts into wrapping paper and who knows after that we might recycle it back into kids art.

Ancient Greece - learning through playing

This post was made for a fellow blogger who is a home educator. I hope that she can use the ideas for teaching her daughter about ancient Greece.

Let's go!

Felt alphabet - a handmade gift

Mathilda's 5th birthday is coming soon. Everything is more or less planned but I thought that it would be nice to add something handmade to the gifts that we've gathered for her.

This is a very simple project. Cutting out the letters took me one evening. I prepared two of every letter but with time I can cut out more of the most used ones. You can play with the letters making words straight on a table or use some felt. The felt that you use as your slate can be hung and the letters will still hold on to it. The alphabet can be nicely packed into that felt after you finish playing. You will then need a string or ribbon to tie it.

What do you think? Will she like it?

Doorway puppet theatre - do it yourself :)

Finally! :) I've been sewing this theatre for some time now, but the basics you can sew in just four hours. It's taken so long because I kept on thinking of ways to tune it up. There are some advanced stage designs involved :)

The performance starts at 5:00 :) Make yourself comfortable.
